I was a huge Peanuts fan when I was a kid, as my mother would know. The first book I remember borrowing from the library was a Peanuts collection. (A short time later, I learned that you're supposed to check them out first...) Things feel a bit different now at thirty-three, but I still remember.

The first Peanuts comic strip appeared on October 2, 1950, and unlike the current crop with their vacations and sabbaticals, good old Sparky never missed a publication date. I was so disappointed when he didn't quite make it to the fifty year mark, and more so that he didn't live to see his work gain the recognition that it deserved. Still, better right with Charles M. Schulz than right with Jean-Paul Sartre.
